ABOUT US: History & Background
For 50 years, Whittier Christian High School has served students and families in the greater Whittier/La Habra area by equipping young people academically, spiritually, socially and athletically to reach their full potential in Christ. Whittier Christian High School is a private, non-profit Christian high school, owned and operated by the Whittier Christian High School Association, Incorporated. The school was established in 1958 as an independent, non-denominational school and is not affiliated with any particular denomination. The school’s board has ultimate responsibility for policymaking and financial planning working through the administrator as the chief executive officer.

The school is co-educational and has a current enrollment of approximately 720 students in grades 9-12. Whittier Christian High School is located on a 20-acre campus leased from the Lowell Joint School District. Recently, the school district formally approved a new lease granting WCHS guaranteed years of occupancy through June of 2016 with the possibility of 4 additional years through June of 2020. WCHS recently received a six-year term of accreditation through June of 2009 by the Western Association of Schools & Colleges (WASC) and the Association of Christian School’s International (ACSI). The school’s library, computer lab, chemistry lab, multi-media presentation room, choir/art gallery, and auditorium have been remodeled and/or upgraded. In 2004 the school built and opened the Leon Davis Event Center, an 11,325 square foot gymnasium and event center. In the fall of 2007, WCHS completed construction on state of the art biology and math laboratories.

WCHS is blessed with outstanding teachers and a student body of enthusiastic and talented students. The staff is composed of four full-time administrators, 49 faculty members, and a classified staff of 18. Both faculty and staff demonstrate a sincere commitment to Christian education and effectively articulate the school’s Christian philosophy of education. Providing a full, college preparatory program with three tracks, WCHS is further enhanced by a comprehensive program of spiritual emphasis. The school’s academic program is keeping pace with the needs of this new century by adding more classes that enable students to earn college credit while still in high school.
