We are recognized for our Christian commitment, academic achievement, and focus on athletics and the arts. For over 65 years, Whittier Christian High School has been equipping young men and women to honor God as critical thinkers and authentic Christians.

Character Development

Christ-centered relationships cultivate transformed character, hospitality, resilience, faith ownership, and healthy community connections together daily.

We believe that Jesus transforms individuals through relationships. Our teachers, staff and administrators model relational intentionality with a passion towards learning and overcoming obstacles. We pursue a oneness of spirit so that all members of our community are valued, empowered and equipped. In so doing, we claim our OWNERSHIP OF FAITH in Christ as He transforms our character towards love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; cultivating a culture of hospitality and healthy relationships.

Academic Preparation

Biblical teaching inspires students for purposeful learning, individualized growth, hopeful futures, and God-given passions confidently.

We are committed to FAITHFUL TEACHING from a biblical perspective in all activities through direct instruction, facilitated discussion and hands-on learning. The teaching, care, and individuation students receive reveals the value and worth we hold for all students. We shepherd our students to explore their future educational and vocational opportunities, encouraging them to pursue the passions God has given them. Our desire is that students may gain a vision of hope for what they may become.

Flourishing Community

Students discover God, embrace life calling, serve compassionately, and strengthen flourishing communities through purposeful relationships.

Our faculty and staff equip students to creatively tackle new challenges they face in academics, athletics, the arts, their spiritual lives, and their interpersonal relationships so that they are empowered to live out their LIFE CALLING. We endeavor to inspire all students to discover God and who they are in connection to Him, others and themselves so that they can participate in the flourishing of all communities by exhibiting servanthood, compassion, and love.

The History of WCHS

Whittier Christian High School began in 1958 with a clear purpose: to provide a Christ-centered education that would shape students academically, spiritually and personally. The school opened with 44 ninth and tenth grade students at College Avenue Church of the Nazarene, later grew through campuses in East Whittier and Maybrook, then established its long-term home in La Habra. Today, WCHS continues that mission as a Christ-centered community that equips and guides students to explore, discover and pursue their Life Calling.

Across more than 65 years, Whittier Christian has built a reputation for academic preparation, biblical formation, student leadership, the arts and athletics. The school now serves approximately 400 students with a 14:1 student-to-teacher ratio, a 95% college acceptance rate, five specialized academies and more than 5600 alumni. Through chapel, Bible courses, service opportunities, clubs, arts programs and college-preparatory pathways, WCHS has remained focused on forming students who think critically, serve humbly and lead with courage.

The Herald legacy is also marked by generations of competitive excellence and school pride. WCHS has earned 122 league championships, 19 CIF championships and 2 football state championships, with landmark moments in football, baseball, basketball, volleyball and softball. From the first football CIF title in 1979 to state championship seasons in 1984 and 1990 to the 2022 football championship, Herald history reflects more than trophies. It reflects a community built on faith, perseverance, friendship and the shared belief that every gift should be used for God’s glory.
